ms_belle10!!! Girl, you are great!!! *hugs*
Feedback: is what I love the most (after Muse and chocolate, of course!:P)
Warnings: None, this part is actually quite cute. ^_^
Disclaimers: As you probably know, I don’t own Muse or their lyrics but original aspects belong to me. So don't steal unless you want me to put Dracula chase you. xD
AN: This part is dedicated to my "second mum", Linda, who inspired the character with the same name. :) She was one of my first internet friends and I love her SO much! Imagine, she's not a Muse fan(yet!:P), but read YAMS and liked it! *hugs*

This beautiful sig was created by one of my good friends. Thanks, Rena!

You are my Sun
Interlude (Anticipation)
An intense anticipation itself transforms possibility into reality; our desires being often but precursors of the things which we are capable of performing. (Samuel Smiles)
“I’m sorry,”
“Sorry, Dom”
The boys both started talking simultaneously and laughed nervously at the coincidence. Matt rubbed the back of his neck while suggesting they walk slowly home because they had an eventful day. Dominic nodded, looked around to make sure they didn’t forget anything there, and locked the garage’s door while his friend buttoned up his coat.
“’s quite chilly out here, right?” Dom called out, fastening his thick sweatshirt and regretting that he hadn’t brought a scarf with him. After all, it was almost the end of October and the weather was becoming colder and colder each day.
Matthew nuzzled his nose against the tall collar of his coat and Dominic had to stifle his laughter at the funny image before him: his friend looked like a helpless nestling as he blinked innocently at Dom. Since Matthew’s mouth was covered it seemed that the blonde boy was the only one laughing.
The navy, late afternoon was almost spent as heavy and dark clouds hung threateningly in the sky with the last, weak rays being the only source of light. Matthew peeked at his mate who didn’t lift his gaze from the ground and noticed with envy that Dom always attracted sunlight to him, his hair aglow and perfectly gold.
“I’m sorry that I spilled out your secret, Matt, I know how protective you are about your personal life. It just seemed so wrong to let Ricky snap at you unfairly that…”
“It’s okay, Dom, I actually want to thank you for defending me and my musical abilities,” Matt said amusedly, “but the only thing that I can think about now is how did you find out that I play the guitar as well? It was Linda, right?”
Dom smirked. “Wrong guess. Why do you always blame your sister for everything?”
Matt punched the cheeky boy’s shoulder. “Oi, I’m not! But her tongue wags! Now, don’t change the subject and answer my question!”
“Behold me, bossy Bellamy is back!” Dom feigned to be upset, but in fact he burst out laughing after two seconds, dragging Matt with him into the contagious swirl of joy. He didn’t mind the punch he received for the new nickname; in fact, he would have borne a hundred more if Matt was always this open. Matt probably felt more comfortable around Dom now, having thrown off the heavy burned of his secret.
“So, Commander Bellamy, I report you that on the evening of 9th of September, at a few minutes after six o’clock, I spotted your majesty with a guitar on your back. Two individuals approached your majesty and requested that you honour the rehearsal with your noble presence,” the blonde boy said, and then squared his shoulders and saluted ceremoniously.
Matthew laughed heartily at Dom’s weird choice of words and funny behaviour.
“Haha, those were two guys from the church; I taught them guitar to gain some pocket money… but that’s so interesting. I didn’t know you’re stalking me, Howard.” He looked daringly at his friend and squealed when he noticed the flame of playfulness rising in the grayish eyes. Dom’s punch didn’t even brush Matt as the brunet boy scooted hurriedly with his thin legs.
“Bellamy, you will so regret this when I catch you!” the blonde teenager screamed joyfully, running down the quiet street, probably making several old men and women wished they would have played their silly games somewhere else.
Matt didn’t have to worry since he was far ahead than his desk-mate, and he made the best of it by throwing funny and provocative vocatives in Dominic’s direction, even wiggling his small bum once.
“Okay, okay, I give up,” the blonde boy stopped and bent forward panting heavily. “Ugh, I’m really out of shape. Will you wait me there, please?”
“Yeah, yeah, veteran Howard.” Matt rolled his eyes, then looked around. “Hey, Dom! Actually my house is right at the corner. Don’t you want to like… come in? We could talk stuff and at least we won’t be freezing outside anymore.”
Dominic walked up smiling. “Gladly. My fingers are frigid.” To prove it, he blew hot air on his numb digits.
Matthew was all smiles when he entered the house and announced to his grandma about their arrival: “Hi, grandma! I hope it’s okay that I invited Dom in?”
The old lady appeared quickly from the living room and smiled kindly.
“ I’m Dominic Howard, Matt’s desk-mate. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Bellamy.” The blonde boy introduced himself courteously, winning the woman’s favor instantly, his flawless smile adding even more to his charm.
Mrs. Bellamy put her hands on the boys’ cheeks, stroking their stone-cold skin. “Ah, you must be frozen! Poor boys! Come in the kitchen, it’s warmer there! You’re up for a good mug of hot chocolate?”
The boys nodded enthusiastically, taking a seat in the cozy kitchen. Matthew’s grandmother put water to boil and took out two mugs from the cupboard, while inquiring the teenagers: “Tell me, how was the rehearsal? Matt, how do you like Dom’s band?”
The blonde boy blushed when he heard his name and his eyes met Matthew’s blue stare.
“Uhm… they are pretty good for a teenage band, especially Dom. I think he’s the most talented member.”
“Oh, really?” Mrs. Bellamy poured the hot water into the mugs, “Dominic, dear, you should give some lessons to Chris because he’s not very good at drumming.”
The boys’ ears turned deep red as he answered: “He should probably practice more. Or just choose another instrument because he actually has an ear for music.”
The boys sipped big gulps of the hot liquid which brought back to life their frozen bodies. Feeling relaxed and comfortably warm, Dom quizzed Matt about how he decided to play the guitar. The dark-haired boy brooded over the question:
“Actually, it wasn’t in my intention. Grandma convinced me that playing another instrument beside piano would look good on my CV if I applied to a music college.”
His grandma, who was washing the dishes, turned and asked her grandson kindly:
“Matty, why don’t you bring here your guitar and play that beautiful song you wrote a few days ago?”
“Oh no, that’s not good! I haven’t finished it,” Matt protested, “Beside that’s written for acoustic guitar. I bet that if Dom wants to hear a song from me, then he’d prefer a Queen cover played on my electric guitar.”
Dom noticed the unusual glare of Mrs. Bellamy and played along. “No, I’d love to hear your own song.”
Matt made a wry face and stumbled away to his room. As soon as he was out of earshot, Mrs. Bellamy sat down on the chair next to Dom and whispered him confidentially:
“Would you like to know why I wanted my grandson to play guitar? Two years ago, when Matt moved here, he would just sit in front of the piano and play the most tragical pieces, not even saying a word to anyone for days.” The woman’s eyes became glassy while remembering those painful images. “I thought that he only needed space to digest the events, but one evening he was thumping the keys with such wrath that I thought he would break the instrument… or his fingers. That’s when I bought him a guitar because I was convinced that he could let off his frustration and resentment much more effectively through it. What can I say, it was my stroke of genius.”
Matt called out from the living room: “Don’t you want to come here? It’s more comfortable.”
Mrs. Bellamy ushered Dom to the next room and both took a seat on the sofa while Matt was humming a melody to himself on an armchair in front of them. Feeling two pair of curious eyes watching him intently, the dark-haired boy’s cheeks flushed and he didn’t look up from the ground. His voice was delicate and quivering as he sang the following lyrics:
You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You could be the one I'll always love
You could be the one who listens to my deepest inquisitions
You could be the one I'll always love
I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before
First there was the one who challenged
All my dreams and all my balance
She could never be as good as you
You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You should be the one I'll always love
“This is what I’ve got so far,” the singer added quickly after his performance, “I know it needs improvements and…”
His friend cut him off, saying: “Matt, this song is so nice! I didn’t know you could sing! I really like the lyrics, no wonder you’re so good at Literature.” He stepped up to the blushing boy and patted his shoulder approvingly.
“Thanks,” Matthew replied. If you only knew it was written for you. The loud ringing of the phone woke the three persons from their reverie. Matt leaped to the device and answered the call.
“Ah, hello Lin!” he smiled because he’d already known the reason for her call. “I’ll put you on speaker, ‘kay?”
“Yeah, sure” she chirped cheerfully, “so what are you up to?”
“Just sitting around with grandma and Dom.”
“Dom’s there too?” Linda giggled excitedly when the blonde boy shouted a greeting. “Oi, I have great news! You’ll never believe this but Mum and Dad’s birthday present is that they’re going to let me have my birthday party on Halloween! OH MY GOD, isn’t that awesome?!”
Matt and his grandma just rolled their eyes but Dom was genuinely happy about it.
“Boys, of course you’re invited. You must dress up and oh, I won’t mind if you bring a gift for me,” the girl chuckled, followed by light laughter from the other end of the receiver.
After finishing the chitty-chatty with her sister, Matt rubbed his hands hectically. “I’m so glad that Linda was born right at Halloween, this way we get double reason to celebrate!”
“You like Halloween so much?” Dom asked dumbfoundedly.
Grandma laughed heartily. “It’s all about the dressing-up. Matty wouldn’t care about Halloween but he has this obsession for costumes.”
“It’s not an obsession!” her grandson disagreed. “Speaking of costumes, do you have anything to wear, Dom?”
His colleague was stroking his chin, deep in thought. Hearing Matt’s question, he raised his eyes up to him and answered mysteriously:
“Oh, yes!”
He wiggled his eyebrows. “I think I’m going to ask for a costume from my cousin Steve,” he paused for the dramatic effect, “who works as a property-man at the theatre.”

That is a gorgeous quote, I don't how you do it; keep finding these little nuggets and managing to link them to your story ^^
This story is so sugary sweet, I may even have to take back my last comment on your sixth chapter and say that this is my new favourite. What was very good was the little interaction with Dom and Matt's grandma; she obviously sees the devotion and trust that Matt has for Dom and so she trusts him too with a secret. I hope Dom can see it soon how much Matt feels for him.
he would have borne a hundred more if Matt was always this open. Matt probably felt more comfortable around Dom now, having thrown off the heavy burned of his secret.
Exactly Dom, you must open you eyes and heart to this boy because he can't stop thinking about you! Hallowe'en can not come quick enough as I would love to read about the party, they are getting so close and the tension is making me giddy! :D
*hugs you and marks the date on her calendar, eagerly waiting*

Date: 2010-10-04 06:43 pm (UTC)Thank you, I also thought that this quote was very pwoper for this chapter. ;) Awww, you are TOO sweet! *hugs while blushing* But maybe you'll like the next chapter even more, that if I am able to do it till then. :S (see the journal entry I'll post after this comment). Oh, Dom sees things but doesn't understand or doesn't want to understand them... but things will change, you'll see :D Actually, you know part of the continuation :P
Oh LOL, it's good to have loyal friends who read your stories!!! ^_^ It's funny that less and less people read this but I don't blame anyone, I'm not updating it often enough and things are progressing (too?) slowly.
Take care, Holly, I wish you would be my roommate! Then I would understand the so called beauties of student life. *le sigh*
