You are my Sun Chapter 1.

Title: You are my Sun Chapter 1. The beginning
Author:[livejournal.com profile] thekeyholder (Brigi)
Pairing: Belldom
Rating: For everyone?
Summary: Matt and Dom are still in school. At first, they are not in good terms but things will evolve. *wink*
Feedback: gives me power to continue. I would like you to be honest and tell me everything you like or don’t like about my story. :) Improvements are always welcomed!
Warnings: None in this chapter.
Disclaimers: As you probably know, I don’t own Muse but original aspects belong to me.
AN: Like a month ago I came across this lovely page and by reading your wonderful stories I was inspired to write my own fic. I usually write poetry but hopefully I’ll succeed as a prose writer as well.
Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bitter_end90 and [livejournal.com profile] miss_ariake who always encouraged me and also corrected my raw versions. *hugs*

This beautiful sig was created by one of my good friends. Thanks, Rena!

You are my Sun

Chapter 1. The beginning

“From small beginnings come great things.”(Proverb)

The horizon was painted a bright red by the sunrise that morning, as the sleepy town of Teignmouth woke up from its slumber. It was the 2nd of September and everyone was in a buzz; it was the first day of school. One by one, each house came alive as the students got prepared for the beginning of the new term. Down one particular country lane, the door of a small house opened up and a skinny figure stepped out to embrace to the morning sun. His name was Matthew Bellamy and typically for a sixteen year old teenager, his body had hit puberty and grown too much in a short time, thus looking too lean.

Despite his opinion, Matt had changed. His folks noticed how his pale face enriched with handsome features which irradiated maturity and seriousness. The blue ocean of his eyes had the unmistakable sparkle of intelligence and the sharp line of his mouth spoke of determination.

Although he greeted the beginning of the school, he also missed those care-free days of the summer holiday when all he did was to play the piano and the shiny new guitar he got for his birthday. Matt had also finally devoured all of his grandmother’s books; it had taken him two years since moving there after his parents divorced when he was fourteen.

That morning as Matt was leaving the house for school, his father called up, “Hi Matty! How are you?” chirped George cheerfully.

“I’m alright. You want to talk with granny?”

“No, no! Listen, Matty, I’d like to ask you something. Could you please come over here and accompany your sister to school? You know how excited she is to go to college and you’ve already experienced the dangers of this new world; it will be your second year there. I’d like you to be her… well, her bodyguard in a sense.”

Matt giggled. A bodyguard, his dad must be joking; he can’t surely scare anyone with his bare-boned build, but his father’s voice was serious:

“Don’t let her do anything stupid!”

As Matt was getting closer to his father’s house, he caught glimpse of Linda, his sister, and his dad who were already waiting for him in front of a neat garden.

“Hello, Matt! Hurry up, or we’ll be late!” shouted Linda who was gently nudged by her father.

“Don’t be silly, you still have half an hour.”

“Yeah, dad, but I have to meet with Chris in…”

“Who?” asked the father suspiciously, raising an eyebrow.

“My new friend, Chris. Chris Wolstenholme. The guy who fixed up my computer.”

George kissed both of his children’s cheeks but whispered in Matt’s ear: “Take care of your sister” and his look searched for obedience in his son’s eyes.

“Yeah yeah, see you later…”

On their way, Matt was listening to his sister’s chatting about her expectations and plans for this new era in her life. The boy’s mind digressed to the time when he was in the same situation. His mom had taken him to a confectionery and tried to convince his son to make a name for himself just like she did 20 years before. Despite her wishes though, Matt stood firm in his belief that “The will to be popular is not necessarily inherited”.

As the two of them reached a turnout, someone approached him and his sister. It appeared to be the Chris character that Linda had mentioned earlier. Matt’s “bodyguard” senses picked up but he figured that he was inoffensive, just a normal kid.

Across the road was situated the massive building of the school. Matt looked at it with mixed feelings; the white building with its big windows inspired fear and sternness but it carried back pleasant memories to him: the long and intriguing conversations he had with his Literature teacher who discovered the boy’s flair for arts. In her opinion he had the sensitivity of poets and the innocence of children.

Having entered the school, Matt let his sister and her admirer walk ahead faster while he headed to his own classroom. The familiar and cosy room welcomed Matt and he sat down in the last row. Looking around he observed that the walls had been whitened during the summer holiday but otherwise everything remained the same: posters of famous writers hanging on the wall, the blackboard and the lecturing desk being the farthest from his scuffed and scribbled table.

He greeted his classmates but they ignored his gestures. Frustration overcast his mood but he then remembered how he only had a few things in common with his so called “classmates”. They didn’t even know he was playing guitar (for 2 years now, even Matt was impressed with himself). Lame people…

Matt was typical for the student who secluded himself in the corner of the class, the most hidden place of the room. He actually preferred sometimes to remain unnoticed. The boy took a notebook out of his bag and leafed through it but suddenly a noisy group imploded into the class.

“Ah, Dominic Howard and his followers,” stated Matt in his mind. The aforementioned boy was a thin, fancily dressed guy surrounded by pretty girls who eagerly watched him and drank in all his words. Dominic put a rebellious blonde lock straight and continued his reminisce with sparkling eyes.

“So, as I’ve already said, I spent the whole summer in London. It was awesome, I did what I wanted. Once I was walking some dark streets when I…”

Matt could not read his book with this clamouring, but he could not wonder about the responsibility of Dom’s parents. They let their son just go up and down in London?! What if he was robbed or even worse? The problem was that he was staying too far from his mate in this way, he did not see the real sadness and the loneliness in Dom’s eyes. He might have sounded cool and rough-neck, but he was just trying to attain the love he did not receive at home.

Anyway, Matt didn’t want to fool away his time with thinking about Dominic. After all, his famous classmate had ridiculed his clothing many times last year saying that he has no style. Matt pretended that he didn’t hear his mockery though his heart was shouting: “Tell him, tell him that because of the divorce of your parents you are badly off… that you don’t have extra money to spend on expensive Gucci and Armani rags like him!”
While he was remembering this event, two stroppy boys sneaked beside his back and put their dirty hands on Matt’s notebook. The sudden movement caused Matt to jump to his feet and he madly clung on his precious object.

“Bellamy, lose hold of this shit or we’ll smack your face!” threatened one of the well-built jerks.

“Never!” and almost with a supernatural power, he pulled the leather-bound notebook back to his person. His eyes reflected fear but nevertheless he acted bravely. He wasn’t going to let anyone read it; that was his personal book. Therefore he hid it well under his black coat, right next to his fast pounding heart. The aggressors looked evilly at him and showed him their fists as a sign of threatening but went back to their group.

The whole class watched the scene amusedly. Everyone laughed except Dom who instead was miles away… his mind concentrating on a single question:

“What on earth could Matthew Bellamy keep in that bloody notebook?!!!”

Hello, and welcome! :-D

It's always lovely to have new writers.

I like the idea of your story. And teen!Belldom is very popular in this community. *grins*

However, I do think it'd be a good idea if you were to get someone to beta your story for you. There were certain words / expressions that were hard to understand, the grammar was a little off and I got the impression (please correct me if I'm wrong) that English isn't your first language?

Anyway, I'd be happy to help if you like, and I know there are other people around who probably wouldn't mind either. Just ask!

Look forward to the next chapter. :-D

Hi!! Thanks for reading! ;)

Actually, I had a beta, miss_ariake but she is so thoughtful; maybe she didn't want to "offend" me by correcting everything. :P I'd be glad if you would look through my next chapters too! You were right, English is not my first language but only the 3rd O.o

Hey there! Welcome to the comm!

This fic has an interesting start, and I'm excited to see where you'll go with it. I like the rocky relationship you've put the two boys in to begin with.

I'm glad you decided to post this and share it with everyone! I'm looking forward to your next update. :)

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)

Thanks for your appreciation! I will try to satisfy your curiosity!

[identity profile] miss-ariake.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, tis good to see this up!

In reply to [livejournal.com profile] ophelia1971's comment... you were right with what you said, Brigi. I really wanted the story to remain as close to what you wrote, and that I probably didn't go into grammar and expression as much as I could/should.
I used to do English Language for a degree as well; it's your choice though my dear. I can check the second chapter and fully go through it. Sorry about that my dear *hugs*

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2010-07-06 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*faints at the sight of Holly's avatar* Pretty Maffoo :P

OMG... yet again, I feel that I offended you by my comment. :( Believe me, it wasn't in my intention! *hugs* Like I told you in my last email, I'd like you to tell me which stuffs to change and just be honest. I won't be upset ;)

I love teen Muse as well! This story is kind of a tribute to my teens since I finished my last year of high school. :)

Just a hint: in the next chapter the notebook won't appear. :P

[identity profile] farawisa.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
i read that it was. my first belldom was I Belong To You and i wrote that only a week after starting to read any museslash. had been writing in english before, but in harry potter and twilight fandom.
i know the effect of miss_ariake's stories and that she's able to talk anyone into writing, she did that with my friend, who has been reading for two years and never once wrote a story ;)

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I had only once start a fanfic about another band. Long time ago (3 years ago).

Thank you for reading and commenting!!! (btw you have a lovely avi! :D)

I like to analyze faces. You can read a person's character from their features.

Dominic will have an interesting role in the next chapter! *zips mouth*

Hey, I noticed you registered at the Archive already. But how do you want your stories being handled over there? Do you want to
1) us to update for you?
2) update yourself?
3) have only links appearing?
4) don't appear on the archive at all?

Groetjes,
Stef

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hi! :)

I'd prefer the first option. Thanks!!!

Just read a few sentences and I can already tell you were used to writing poetry. You have a beautiful writing style.

I don't think you already know, but I have a deep love for teen!muse stories and first time stories. And this story, being the way it is written, I will love too. In my mind Matt always is the shy one and Dom the more confident (at least on the surface), so this story will be right up my alley.

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2015-12-09 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It is so strange going back to this story. Are you sure you want to read it? I'm asking, because it's unfinished, and I honestly don't think I will ever have the time to go back to it. :( But I do appreciate you going through my stories!!! <3

High five, I also love teen!muse. :DI always imagine them like that as well.

[identity profile] tamarelmensdorp.livejournal.com 2015-12-09 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
But it's such a beautiful story. I already love it and I've read more stories that will never be finished. I love it for as far as it gets me :).

[identity profile] thekeyholder.livejournal.com 2015-12-09 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
All right, if you're fine without closure. I mean, you can guess what will happen anyway. ;)
